About the Court of Amsterdam
The Amsterdam Court is the newest building within the Judiciary. The new building has 10 floors and a surface area of 60,200 m2 for offices, courtrooms, conference centre, interrogation rooms, the detention centre, facilities and parking facilities.
The building offers space for approximately 1,000 court employees and 200 employees of chain partners, such as public prosecutors, lawyers, probation officers and interpreters.
Sustainability
During the construction, not only functionality, recognisability and visibility were taken into account, but also sustainability. For example, there are solar panels on the roof, there are charging stations for electric vehicles, heat and cold storage are used and the interior lighting is adjusted to the strength of the daylight. The material used is also sustainable. The court is designed in such a way that the building can easily be adapted to future developments; for example, the layout of courtrooms can easily be changed, so that all parties to the proceedings have a good place to do their work in the court.
