Discover how audiovisual systems from AVEX contribute to a unique educational environment
Avans is an ambitious knowledge institution with a powerful position in Brabant. Six months ago Avans opened the doors of OpenX, a new educational environment on the Breda campus. The unique educational concept is highly appreciated by current students and attracts new enrollments.
In OpenX, AVEX realized a wide variety of audiovisual solutions for all study and meeting rooms, including modern meeting solutions as well as functional and eye-catching digital signage facilities.
Inspiring environment
With OpenX, Avans offers a unique place to connect for education, research and entrepreneurship.
A place where people from different worlds can meet, collaborate and learn from each other.
After a thorough renovation of an existing wing (5,000 m2), all wishes and ideas for innovative education have come together in this new building. With many study, work and meeting areas and spaces for large and smaller events. There is also a makerslab with a Virtual Reality area, a space to experiment and inspire each other with different forms of work. And there are 5 themed rooms, linked to the Sustainable Development Goals and promoting interdisciplinary thinking and working. Of course, there is also a coffee bar and a food court where you can enjoy something to eat.
A lot of attention has been given to creating the right atmosphere. The environment inspires. The audiovisual systems make a tangible and visible contribution to the experience and co-creation.
AVEX is proud that we were able to contribute to this ambitious project of Avans. The result is an educational concept that fosters excellent student development.
Students experience the building as very pleasant. There are now sometimes spaces elsewhere on campus that are empty because they are all in OpenX. Students find the right spaces here to suit their needs.

There was intensive cooperation between all parties involved and a lot of attention was paid to make the audiovisual systems fit in as well as possible with the shapes of the building.
Additional eye-catching solutions within the OpenX educational concept are the beautiful LED screens.
In the entrance to OpenX, a large double-sided ‘floating’ LED screen immediately attracts attention and surprises visitors and students. It is the ideal medium for ‘branding’ and information messages on campus. It gives a pleasant sense of welcome.
A special LED screen was also installed in the new event space. A wide curved LED screen was chosen here, which fits perfectly within the shape of the space. Due to its special shape, the screen creates the intended intimate atmosphere. It promotes contact and interaction between speaker and participants.
Together with Avans and the architect, we chose solutions appropriate to the shape of the building and the desired atmosphere.

- LG 136” LED in the boardroom with MTR solution
- Easily movable trolleys with 86” Sharp NEC touch display with BYOD via one USB-C cable
- Scala digital signage and Sentido roombooking
AVEX provided design, engineering, delivery, implementation, content creation following Avans identity and project management to bring this new educational concept to life.
AVEX played a major role in the OpenX project. They did a great job of thinking with us about which solutions we would apply where.
