The existing presentation screen in the large central area of the KNVB Campus had seen its best days. The image quality was severely outdated and it had become vulnerable to failures.

AVEX realises grand presentation wall at top sports venue
Just before the start of this sports filled summer, AVEX realised a major upgrade for presenting at the KNVB Campus in Zeist. The Oranjeplein was equipped with an impressive 20 m2 LED wall. Together with the iconic grandstand stairs, the new presentation wall forms the perfect backdrop for a unique event experience on the campus.
Top-level LED wall with a long lifespan
With an important sports summer ahead, AVEX was called in to design a new dynamic presentation wall, a real eye-catcher. One of the key requirements was durability. The screen on the central Oranjeplein is only off at night and therefore makes a lot of hours. More important selection aspects for the LED wall were low energy consumption and a long lifespan.
The selected screen has a lifespan of over 10 years if left running constantly. At the KNVB, the screen is used an average of five days a week, about 16 hours a day.
‘The dimensions of the screen have to match the proportion of the room. There is also a lot of daylight, which also affects the choices made. We ended up with a 20 sq m LED wall measuring 7.5 m x 2.7 m with top-level image quality. In terms of size and experience, the new screen is a perfect match for its surroundings. It plays a prominent role in the large open space,’ says Marcel Brinkhof, account manager at AVEX.
When choosing the new wall, we took full advice from the specialists at AVEX. In the preliminary phase, we were able to experience the image quality possibilities for ourselves, both in AVEX’s showroom and on location at an AVEX customer. This enabled us to compare the possibilities.
Multifunctional use and ease of operation
The audiovisual system is designed in a way that allows any type of event to be properly equipped with image, sound and light. From plenary presentations to press conferences. The room can thus quickly be converted to the right setting.
‘The ease of usage is great. Just switching from presentation to TV, for example. If a football team is sitting here in the evening, you want to be able to switch easily to live TV on the big screen. It’s all so much more easy in use than before,’ said Jacco Rozenberg, Operational Manager KNVB Campus.
The system features a touch panel for simple control, with clear preset selection buttons for the various settings. The fixed server rack in the room is equipped with all necessary inputs, so any data source or presentation source can be connected quickly and effortlessly. The system is also prepared for the use of Microsoft Teams for video conferencing.
Content can be displayed in multiple ‘windows’ simultaneously on the big screen. Templates were made for this by AVEX in the KNVB corporate style. The weather forecast, sports news and similar content can also be displayed, making for a more dynamic space as a whole.
The cooperation with AVEX was very smooth. There was a strong attention to detail both on our side and at AVEX, so we were able to work together very well. Nothing was too much. The result turned out perfectly, with this screen we are ready for the future. We are extremely happy with it, everyone who comes in here says ‘wow’!
