Sharing information
The large, open space within the OCC houses numerous workstations. The atmosphere is energetic and dynamic, with the bustle of activity 24/7. The feature that immediately catches one’s eye, however, is its huge video wall, which displays a dashboard containing a range of information. This includes an overview of all KLM’s current flights. However, the dashboard also offers space for customer satisfaction ratings and scores on the basis of punctuality. In addition, it displays weather information and the latest news items.
Energy efficient
AVEX was approached to replace the video wall’s existing engines with fifteen energy-efficient Mitsubishi models. In addition, the video wall had to be adapted for operation from a single central control point manned by the Duty Manager Operations. A Crestron touch panel proved the ideal solution to meet this requirement.
Operational 24/7
The OCC is operational 24 hours a day. It was therefore crucial that the engines, datapath controller and video wall processor were replaced as swiftly and efficiently as possible. Thanks to thorough preparations and tight scheduling, operations proceeded highly favourably. Our technicians completed the project fully within the agreed time frame.
It took the technicians just three days to replace the video wall’s innards with state-of the-art technology. All fifteen of the video wall engines were first dismantled, whereupon the new ones were installed and accurately adjusted. In the meantime, however, the OCC remained live 24/7. Staff representing Mitsubishi, AVEX and KLM all cooperated closely during the entire course of the project’s execution. Their total commitment throughout proved a vital asset to us.
On completion of the project, AVEX compiled a delivery report comprising the measurement points designated by KLM. These included brightness, light output, electricity/power consumption and neat emission readings taken both prior to and following execution.
Sustainable
The sustainable nature of the Mitsubishi engines is an added advantage, apart from the lifelike colours and clear picture that they provide. These LED engines are 65% more energy efficient than the lamps they replaced. Another major advantage is the fact that LED systems require less cooling, while they have a reduced effective power consumption. Particularly in the case of a video wall of such dimensions, the amount of heat emitted is reduced quite considerably. There was therefore a tangible improvement in the ambient temperature from day one.
Maintenance
As it is also to carry out service and the maintenance for KLM, AVEX concluded a suitable service level agreement with short response times.
