It was with great pride that AVEX received a prestigious award at the GPA Global Summit at the end of September in Ireland. In the ‘Innovation Project of the Year’ category, AVEX was presented with the GPA Brad Sousa Innovation Award. A great recognition of its outstanding achievement in the audiovisual project design of the new NBC Conference Center in Nieuwegein, the Netherlands.
GPA Brad Sousa Innovation Award: Innovation Project of the Year
The international GPA Awards are presented annually during the GPA Global Summit. Entries come from around the world from the more than 25 GPA Regional Business Units, which submit their best achievements to win an honourable award in the field of audiovisual technology and projects.
Added as a new category this year, the Brad Sousa Innovation Award honours Brad Sousa, a globally recognised authority in the audiovisual industry. Brad Sousa was a master in his field; he was former CTO of AVI Systems, a member of the AVIXA Board of Directors and a leader in innovation in our industry. But above all this, he was a beloved GPA colleague and it was a shock in the AV industry when Brad died suddenly last year.

NBC rebuilt into a state-of-the-art event location
In September 2022, the NBC Conference Center was devastated by a fire. Following this tragic event, NBC and AVEX joined forces not only to restore the AV installations but also to transform the congress center into a state-of-the-art event location.
AVEX’s innovative NBC project has also been nominated as a finalist for the prestigious AV Awards, whose awards ceremony will take place in London on 1 November 2024.
